Epidemics have posed significant challenges to health systems in Comoros, a small archipelago nation located off the eastern coast of Africa. The fragile healthcare infrastructure and limited resources exacerbate these challenges, necessitating robust resilience strategies. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, integrating quantitative data from official health records with qualitative insights through interviews with key informants from healthcare providers and community members. Comparative frameworks are applied to analyse resilience strategies across different regions of Comoros. Findings indicate that the integration of traditional medicine practices alongside modern healthcare services has proven effective in enhancing overall system resilience during epidemics, particularly in rural areas where access to formal health facilities is limited. The study underscores the importance of culturally sensitive and inclusive health systems for fostering greater resilience against future outbreaks. Key lessons include leveraging local knowledge and resources effectively. Health policymakers should prioritise the integration of traditional medicine into modern healthcare strategies, ensuring equitable access to comprehensive care across all regions of Comoros.
