Abstract

This study examines legal responses to sustainable development challenges in Ethiopia over a decade. A survey research approach was employed to collect data from legal experts and policymakers. Data analysis included thematic coding of responses and statistical evaluation where applicable. The findings indicate a significant increase in legislative efforts towards sustainable development, particularly in the areas of land use planning and environmental impact assessments. While there has been an enhancement in legal frameworks, implementation remains challenging due to resource constraints and bureaucratic inefficiencies. Enhanced enforcement mechanisms are needed alongside improved training for policymakers to ensure effective application of laws.
