Abstract

Theoretical foundations for understanding regional economic blocs in Africa are essential for policy formulation and academic research. This article focuses on Kenya's perspective within the broader context of African studies, examining the theoretical frameworks that underpin regional integration efforts. Theoretical frameworks will be constructed through bibliometric analysis of existing literature, including academic papers, policy documents, and scholarly reviews. A qualitative comparative synthesis method will be employed to evaluate the theoretical consistency across different regional blocs. This study has identified several theoretical gaps that require further exploration to enhance our understanding of regional integration dynamics in Africa, particularly concerning the complex interplay between history, geopolitics, and economic policy. Future research should focus on empirical testing of these theoretical frameworks through case studies or longitudinal data analysis. Policy makers can benefit from this structured approach by identifying potential areas for intervention to promote more inclusive regional development strategies.
