Abstract

Drought-tolerant maize varieties (DTMVs) have shown promise in enhancing agricultural productivity and resilience in regions prone to climate variability. A mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews with quantitative data analysis will be employed to explore farmer perceptions and practices regarding DTMV adoption. The socio-ecological framework elucidates key factors facilitating or hindering DTMV adoption, providing insights that can inform policy and agricultural development strategies in similar contexts. Strategies should focus on improving market access, enhancing farmer education programmes, and strengthening community-based support systems to facilitate wider adoption of DTMVs.
