Abstract
This study examines the adoption of eco-friendly agro-biochar among Zanzibar coastal farmer communities in Kenya. A mixed-methods approach combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews was employed. There is a significant increase (30%) in maize yields among adopters compared to non-adopters within the first year of application. The eco-friendly agro-biochar shows promise for enhancing soil fertility and increasing agricultural productivity in coastal environments. Communities should be supported with training programmes on biochar production and its integration into sustainable farming practices.
