Abstract

Regional economic blocs in Africa are a subject of growing interest among scholars and policymakers due to their potential impact on regional integration and development. The research employs a qualitative approach to analyse data from official documents, academic literature, and interviews with key stakeholders in Morocco. Key themes emerged regarding the integration process within the African Union (AU) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), highlighting the challenges and benefits experienced by Morocco. Morocco's experiences underscore the importance of regional economic cooperation for socio-economic development in Africa, with specific focus on the AU’s role in facilitating integration. Policymakers should prioritise strengthening institutional frameworks and enhancing cross-border collaboration to fully realise the potential benefits of regional blocs.
