Abstract

The Nile Basin in Ethiopia is facing significant water scarcity, which has led to tensions among its riparian states over equitable access and usage of shared water resources. Theoretical synthesis and qualitative analysis of existing literature on water management, conflict resolution mechanisms, and sustainable development policies relevant to the region. The theoretical framework underscores the importance of integrated approaches that combine environmental management, social cohesion building, and policy harmonization to mitigate conflict in the Nile Basin. Policy recommendations include establishing a regional water resources management committee with enforceable agreements, enhancing public awareness campaigns on shared resource values, and fostering diplomatic relations among stakeholders.
