Methodological Evaluation of Maternal Care Facilities Systems in Uganda Using Multilevel Regression Analysis for Clinical Outcome Measurement
Abstract
Uganda faces challenges in maternal health care, particularly in the quality of care provided at facilities. A systematic search identified relevant studies from multiple databases. Multilevel regression models were applied to analyse data, accounting for both individual patient characteristics and facility-level factors. Findings suggest that multilevel regression analysis can effectively measure clinical outcomes in maternal care systems but also highlight variability across facilities, necessitating targeted interventions. Multilevel regression analysis is a robust method for evaluating maternal care systems in Uganda, revealing areas needing improvement to meet clinical standards. Facilities should prioritise standardised protocols and continuous quality improvement based on findings from this review. Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
