Abstract

The post-colonial era in Ethiopia has seen a renaissance of African philosophy, influenced by both traditional indigenous thought and contemporary global intellectual currents. The study employs a qualitative approach, drawing insights from literature reviews, interviews with leading Ethiopian philosophers, and participatory observation in academic conferences. Themes such as Pan-Africanism and Ubuntu have emerged strongly in recent philosophical discourse, indicating a significant shift towards more inclusive and holistic approaches to African identity and ethics. The study highlights the integration of traditional wisdom with modern epistemologies, suggesting that Ethiopian philosophy is developing into a robust and distinctive field within broader African studies. Further research should explore the practical applications of these philosophical ideas in contemporary social contexts, such as education and governance.
