Abstract

The Nile Basin is a critical water resource for several African nations, including Ghana, facing challenges due to increasing population and climate change. A qualitative research approach was adopted through interviews with key informants and document reviews to understand practices and policies related to water management and conflict resolution efforts. Interviews revealed that local communities have implemented innovative water-sharing mechanisms such as rotational irrigation systems, which significantly reduce competition among users. Stakeholder engagement and community-based initiatives are crucial for sustainable water resource management in the Nile Basin of Ghana. Governments should support and fund these collaborative projects to ensure their longevity and effectiveness.
