Abstract

Entrepreneurship ecosystems and innovation hubs are critical for fostering economic growth in developing countries. The study employed a comparative analysis approach using secondary data from government reports, academic journals, and industry surveys to evaluate the structural components, funding mechanisms, and community engagement practices of innovation hubs across Burkina Faso. A notable finding was that while the number of active innovation hubs in Burkina Faso is growing, they predominantly focus on digital technology sectors, with a proportion exceeding 70%. The study highlights the importance of diversifying hub focuses to better serve diverse local needs and improve overall economic resilience. Policy makers should prioritise funding for innovation hubs that address traditional sectors such as agriculture and energy, alongside digital technology.
