Traditional Governance Structures and Modern Democratic Practices in Southern Africa and Côte d'Ivoire: An Analytical Framework

Abstract

The study examines traditional governance structures in Southern Africa and Côte d'Ivoire within the context of modern democratic practices. A mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews with quantitative data analysis to explore governance structures in both regions. Traditional institutions play a significant role in conflict resolution mechanisms, contributing to stability despite modern legal frameworks. Integration of traditional practices can enhance democratic processes by fostering community engagement and consensus-building. Policy recommendations include integrating customary law into judicial systems and promoting inter-generational dialogue on governance structures.
