Abstract
The Lake Victoria Islands in Kenya are home to numerous fishing communities that rely heavily on traditional energy sources for their daily operations and livelihoods. The analysis is based on a review of existing literature, interviews with community leaders, and observations at selected fishing sites within the Lake Victoria Islands. While renewable energy has shown promise, further research is needed to assess its long-term sustainability and cost-effectiveness across different communities. Communities should consider implementing comprehensive training programmes for sustainable energy use practices alongside the installation of microgrids.
