Smart Agriculture Technologies in Kenyan Corn Growers: Adoption Rates and Yield Performance Assessment,
Abstract
Smart agriculture technologies have become increasingly important for improving crop yields in developing countries like Kenya. Qualitative data was collected through interviews with farmers, focus group discussions, and document analysis. Data were analysed using thematic content analysis. A consistent theme emerged regarding the challenges faced by farmers in adopting these technologies due to financial constraints and limited access to information. Despite initial skepticism, a significant proportion of Kenyan corn growers have adopted smart agriculture technologies over the past decade, though yield performance varied widely based on technology type and farmer skill level. Policy makers should focus on providing financial incentives and improving access to training for farmers interested in adopting these technologies.
