Cultural Heritage Preservation Strategies in West Africa and Eritrea within the Digital Age

Abstract

Cultural heritage preservation in West Africa and Eritrea is facing challenges exacerbated by digitalization, requiring innovative strategies. A comparative analysis of existing literature, governmental policies, and community initiatives in West African countries like Nigeria and Eritrea. Both regions have engaged in varied online platforms for documentation and promotion, with Eritrea showing a higher proportion (30%) of digital content compared to West Africa's average (25%). The study highlights the importance of integrating traditional preservation methods with digital technologies. Develop comprehensive, culturally-sensitive digital strategies that respect indigenous knowledge systems and community involvement.
