Abstract

Immunization coverage in West-African regions of Kenya remains suboptimal, with significant disparities between urban and rural areas. A mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews with community members and quantitative analysis of vaccination records from primary health centers in three selected regions. Findings indicate that cultural sensitivities play a crucial role in vaccine acceptance, with a notable increase (20%) observed when culturally adapted communication strategies were implemented. This study highlights the importance of culturally tailored interventions for improving immunization coverage and suggests their integration into existing health programmes. Recommendation is to incorporate culturally sensitive communication as a core component in future immunization campaigns, alongside other evidence-based strategies.
