Abstract

This review examines a book that analyzes gender dynamics in political transitions within Lesotho, focusing on how power structures have shifted over time. The review will analyse the methods employed by the author, including data sources and analytical techniques used to study gender dynamics across different periods of Lesotho’s political history. Key themes include a significant increase in female representation in local governance structures since the early 2000s, though disparities remain concerning leadership positions at national levels. The review concludes that while there has been progress towards gender equality in Lesotho’s political system, persistent challenges persist, particularly regarding access to higher-level decision-making roles. Recommendations for further research include examining the effects of international aid on gender dynamics and exploring potential policy interventions to enhance women's participation at all levels of governance.
