Abstract

Land reform in East Africa has been a focus of attention due to its potential impact on socio-economic dynamics and agricultural productivity. The analysis draws from existing literature and case studies focusing on the effects of land reforms in East African countries, emphasising comparative approaches. A notable finding is the significant increase (over 20%) in agricultural productivity among smallholder farmers who benefited from targeted land redistribution schemes. The findings suggest that well-designed and implemented land reform programmes can lead to substantial improvements in rural livelihoods and economic stability. Policy recommendations include prioritising community consultation, ensuring equitable resource distribution, and integrating advanced agricultural technologies into farming practices.
