Abstract

Urban youth in Mozambique face complex socio-political challenges that shape their identity and political engagement. The analysis draws from qualitative interviews with young people aged 18-35 across four major cities in Mozambique. Urban youth in Mozambique navigate a fragmented political environment that shapes their identities and influences their level of political participation, highlighting the need for targeted socio-political interventions to enhance trust and engagement. Policy makers should prioritise initiatives aimed at improving access to information and fostering dialogue between urban youth and local governance structures to strengthen civic engagement in Mozambique's urban centers.
