Female Vocational Students' Training Workshops on Poultry Farming: Impacts on Broiler Performance in Cote d'Ivoire Agricultural Setting
Abstract
Poultry farming is a significant component of agricultural activities in Côte d'Ivoire. Despite this importance, there remains a gap in understanding how training programmes can enhance broiler performance among female vocational students. The study employed a mixed-methods approach involving pre- and post-workshop surveys to collect data from female vocational students who participated in poultry farming workshops. Broiler performance metrics were collected through regular inspections of the poultry farms where participants worked. A total of 78% of participating students reported increased confidence in their ability to manage broilers after the workshops, with a significant improvement (p < 0.05) observed in broiler growth rates by an average of 12% compared to pre-workshop levels. The training workshops successfully enhanced female vocational students' knowledge and practices regarding poultry farming, leading to measurable improvements in broiler performance. Further research should explore the long-term effects of these workshops on student career paths within the agricultural sector, as well as potential scalability of the training model across different regions in Côte d'Ivoire.
