Mobile Scales in Agricultural Extension: A Comparative Study of Burkina Faso's Mobile Technologies
Abstract
Mobile scales have been increasingly adopted in agricultural extension services to facilitate precision farming practices. A mixed-methods approach combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews was employed to assess the use and perceived benefits of mobile technologies in agriculture. Mobile scale usage varied significantly across different regions, with a proportion of 45% of surveyed farmers reporting increased efficiency due to technology integration. The study highlights disparities in technological access which could be addressed through targeted policy interventions. Investment in infrastructure and training programmes is recommended to ensure equitable use of mobile scales by all farmer communities.
