Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant public health challenge in Kenya, particularly in rural areas where access to healthcare is limited. A comprehensive search of relevant databases, including PubMed and Scopus, was conducted to identify studies published from to . Studies were included if they described training programmes for community health workers (CHWs) in TB screening in Kenyan villages and reported outcomes related to CHW performance. Findings indicate that the majority of reviewed studies observed a significant improvement (p < 0.05) in CHW accuracy rates from baseline levels, with an average increase of 23% across all evaluated programmes. Community health workers played a key role in enhancing TB screening efficiency and accessibility in Kenyan villages, although variability existed between different training interventions. Future research should focus on evaluating the long-term sustainability of these training programmes and exploring cost-effective dissemination strategies for CHWs across various village settings. Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
