Abstract

Afro-Linguistics is a field within Linguistics that focuses on African language structures, including their phonology, morphology, and syntax. The commentary draws on existing literature and theoretical frameworks within Afro-Linguistics without presenting new empirical data or methods. The commentary underscores the significance of incorporating Afro-Linguistics into South African Studies to better understand and document linguistic diversity. Future research should prioritise comparative studies between different African language families, particularly those with distinct phonological patterns.
