Abstract

Egypt's legal framework has long influenced sexual and gender norms within its society. A qualitative content analysis method was employed to review existing legislation and related court judgments for insights into current legal standards and their impact on social behaviour. Findings indicate that the new anti-harassment law has led to a significant increase in reported cases, suggesting an improvement in victims' willingness to come forward but also potential over-reporting issues. The reviewed laws have had both expected and unexpected impacts on behaviour and perceptions within Egyptian society. Recommendation for policymakers includes strengthening enforcement mechanisms and providing more support services for marginalized groups affected by these policies.
