Abstract
This commentary examines traditional governance structures in Southern Africa, specifically within modern democracies of Namibia. No empirical data were collected; instead, a critical review of existing literature and case studies was conducted. While traditional structures provide cultural continuity and legitimacy, they also pose challenges to rapid modernization efforts. Namibian policymakers should integrate traditional practices more systematically into the legal framework to enhance governance effectiveness while preserving cultural heritage.
