Abstract

This article examines healthcare access programmes for elderly populations in Ethiopian cities over a three-decade period (-), providing context for understanding current and future service utilization patterns. A comprehensive review of historical data from Ethiopian cities will be conducted, analysing demographic shifts, healthcare service provision changes, and socioeconomic indicators to inform the theoretical model. The theoretical framework elucidates the complex interplay of socio-economic factors influencing healthcare access and utilization among elderly populations in Ethiopian cities, offering insights for policy development and resource allocation. Future research should focus on longitudinal studies to track long-term service utilization trends and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented policies. Policymakers can use this framework to design more effective support programmes that address specific needs within these communities.
