Abstract

Water sanitation technologies have been implemented in Kibera slums to improve community health. A participatory action research approach was employed, involving regular visits, surveys, focus groups, and feedback sessions with local stakeholders. Significant improvements were noted in handwashing frequency (increased by 20%) and reported waterborne disease cases decreased by 15%. The interventions have positively influenced community health practices, particularly through increased awareness of sanitation importance. Further research should focus on long-term sustainability strategies and scaling up successful initiatives to other slums. water sanitation technologies, Kibera slums, hygiene improvement, participatory action research
