Methodological Evaluation of Regional Monitoring Networks in South Africa: Estimating Yield Improvements Using Panel Data Analysis

Abstract

South Africa faces significant challenges in achieving sustainable agricultural productivity due to climate variability and economic pressures. Panel data will be used to analyse the impact of regional monitoring systems on crop yields over multiple years. Robust standard errors will account for within-region correlations and heteroscedasticity. Regional monitoring networks have the capacity to significantly improve agricultural yield predictions, offering practical applications for policymakers and farmers alike. Investment in comprehensive regional monitoring systems should be prioritised to support sustainable agricultural development in South Africa. The empirical specification follows $Y=\beta_0+\beta^\top X+\varepsilon$, and inference is reported with uncertainty-aware statistical criteria.
