Social Protection Policies and Their Impact on Fishing Cooperatives' Livelihood Stability in Senegal: An Evaluation

Abstract
Social protection policies have become a critical component in addressing vulnerability among fishing communities in Senegal. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative data from cooperative records with qualitative insights through semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions. Findings indicate that social protection policies have led to a significant increase in employment stability within fishing cooperatives, with an average of 20% reduction in job losses over the past year. Social protection policies have played a crucial role in supporting livelihoods and enhancing resilience among Senegal's fishing cooperatives. Further policy support should be directed towards strengthening cooperative management structures to ensure long-term financial sustainability.
