Abstract

Coastal communities in Burkina Faso are experiencing increasing climate variability, necessitating effective adaptation strategies. A comprehensive search strategy using databases such as PubMed and Google Scholar was employed to identify relevant studies. Studies were screened based on predefined inclusion criteria, including peer-reviewed articles, grey literature, and case studies. The quality of the included studies was assessed using a validated tool. The review identified several adaptation strategies, with a notable theme being the use of traditional knowledge in conjunction with modern technologies to mitigate climate impacts. Existing strategies have demonstrated mixed success, highlighting the need for tailored and integrated approaches that incorporate local knowledge and adaptive management practices. Communities should be supported in developing context-specific adaptation plans informed by both traditional and contemporary solutions. Policy makers should facilitate this process through targeted interventions and resource provision. The empirical specification follows $Y=\beta_0+\beta^\top X+\varepsilon$, and inference is reported with uncertainty-aware statistical criteria.
