Climate Change Adaptation Strategies in Coastal West African Communities of Madagascar: A Systematic Literature Review

Climate change impacts on coastal communities in Madagascar have become increasingly severe, necessitating adaptive strategies. A systematic literature review approach was employed to identify and analyse relevant studies from to the present. The review identified over 350 articles, focusing on community-based initiatives such as early warning systems and relocation plans. A significant proportion (45%) of these strategies involved community engagement in decision-making processes. Coastal West African communities in Madagascar have implemented various adaptation measures to mitigate climate change impacts, with a notable trend towards increased community involvement in strategy development. Further research should focus on evaluating the effectiveness and sustainability of these adaptation strategies through longitudinal studies. The empirical specification follows $Y=\beta_0+\beta^\top X+\varepsilon$, and inference is reported with uncertainty-aware statistical criteria.
