Abstract

Blockchain technology has gained traction in various sectors for enhancing transparency, security, and efficiency. In Zanzibar's agricultural sector, where smallholder farmers dominate, integrating blockchain can facilitate more equitable value addition processes. A mixed-methods approach will be utilised, combining qualitative interviews with quantitative data analysis to understand farmer perceptions and technological feasibility. By leveraging blockchain technology, Zanzibar's agricultural sector could significantly improve value addition processes, fostering greater inclusivity and sustainability among smallholder farmers. Policy makers should support research and pilot projects to validate the theoretical framework before full-scale implementation in farmer networks.
