Abstract

The study examines ethical challenges faced by businesses in Mauritius during periods of conflict. A comparative study approach was adopted to analyse case studies from various sectors including tourism, agriculture, and manufacturing. Interviews with stakeholders and a review of existing literature were conducted to gather data. The analysis revealed that businesses often grappled with the tension between maintaining operations and upholding ethical standards in conflict environments, particularly regarding labour rights and environmental impact. Businesses operating in Mauritius during conflicts face significant ethical challenges that require tailored approaches to ensure sustainability and integrity. The study recommends developing a comprehensive framework for businesses to navigate these complex situations ethically, including guidelines on conflict management and stakeholder engagement strategies.
