Abstract

Urban migration in Accra, Ghana has led to an influx of young migrants who often face challenges accessing healthcare services. A mixed-method approach including surveys and qualitative interviews with community leaders and healthcare providers in Accra, Ghana. Data revealed a significant disparity in ART provision to young migrants, with only 40% of those needing treatment receiving it. There was also a notable gap in vaccination coverage for children under five years old. Urban youth migrants face substantial barriers to accessing essential healthcare services in Accra, particularly antiretroviral treatments and vaccinations. Increased funding for health programmes targeting young migrants is recommended alongside improved data collection on migrant populations. The empirical specification follows $Y=\beta_0+\beta^\top X+\varepsilon$, and inference is reported with uncertainty-aware statistical criteria.
