Climate-Friendly Rice Varieties among Southern Angola's Smallholder Farmers: A Meta-Analysis of Five-Year Adoption Studies
Abstract
This meta-analysis examines the adoption of climate-friendly rice varieties among smallholder farmers in Southern Angola over a five-year period. A systematic review and meta-analysis approach was employed, synthesizing data from multiple studies conducted in Southern Angola between and . Data were analysed using a random-effects model with robust standard errors to account for heterogeneity across studies. The analysis revealed an average 25% increase in rice yield among farmers adopting climate-friendly varieties, with significant improvements in water use efficiency and resistance to drought conditions. Climate-friendly rice varieties significantly enhanced the productivity of smallholder farmers in Southern Angola, particularly under challenging climatic conditions. Government policies should incentivize the adoption of these varieties through subsidies and extension services to maximise their benefits for food security. The empirical specification follows $Y=\beta_0+\beta^\top X+\varepsilon$, and inference is reported with uncertainty-aware statistical criteria.
