Abstract

This study examines the policy dynamics influencing business research in Botswana's water management sector. A qualitative exploratory approach was employed to gather data from relevant stakeholders including government officials, private sector representatives, and community leaders. Interviews were conducted using semi-structured questionnaires. The analysis revealed that a significant proportion (75%) of business strategies implemented in water management are influenced by policy directives, particularly those related to environmental sustainability and economic development goals. This research underscores the critical role of policy guidance in shaping effective business practices for sustainable water resource management in Botswana. Future studies should consider incorporating more quantitative methods to validate findings. Policymakers should prioritise harmonizing existing policies with international best practices to enhance their effectiveness.
