Methodological Assessment of Community Health Centre Systems in Tanzania Using Quasi-Experimental Design: A Systematic Literature Review
Abstract
Community health centres in Tanzania face challenges in delivering consistent healthcare services due to varying system reliability. A comprehensive search was conducted using multiple databases including PubMed and Web of Science. Studies were selected based on predefined inclusion criteria related to quasi-experimental design applications in Tanzania’s healthcare sector. Methodological quality assessment employed the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool, with findings analysed for thematic synthesis. Quasi-experimental designs showed a moderate tendency towards methodological rigour but exhibited significant variability across different studies, particularly regarding participant selection and outcome measurement reliability. The review highlights gaps in study design that may compromise the validity of quasi-experimental findings, necessitating standardised guidelines for future research. Standardised protocols should be developed to enhance methodological consistency and transparency in evaluating community health centre systems. This will improve evidence-based policy-making and resource allocation in healthcare settings. Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
