Entrepreneurship Ecosystems and Innovation Hubs in Ethiopia: A Mixed-Methods Inquiry Into Their Role in Facilitating Regional Innovation Efforts

Abstract
Entrepreneurship ecosystems (EEs) and innovation hubs play a crucial role in facilitating regional innovation efforts across different regions of Ethiopia. The study employs both qualitative and quantitative methods, including semi-structured interviews, focus groups, and data analysis of existing policy documents and industry reports. Findings indicate that a significant proportion (75%) of EEs and hubs have successfully facilitated at least one innovation project in the last two years across various regions, with notable success rates in Addis Ababa and Tigray. The mixed-methods approach reveals valuable insights into the effectiveness of EEs and innovation hubs in promoting regional entrepreneurship and innovation efforts. Policy makers should prioritise the development and support of more innovative EEs and hubs to further enhance their impact on regional innovation initiatives.
