Abstract

Religious pluralism in Senegalese West Africa is a complex interplay of various faiths and cultural practices. A comparative study approach was employed, integrating qualitative and quantitative data from religious leaders, community surveys, and historical records. The analysis reveals that despite significant religious diversity, there is a notable presence of inter-faith dialogue initiatives fostering mutual respect and understanding among different faith communities in Senegal. Inter-faith dynamics are characterized by both challenges and opportunities for peace and social cohesion, with specific programmes contributing to the resolution of conflicts. Further research should focus on identifying best practices for inter-faith engagement and policy implications for promoting religious harmony in Senegal and beyond.
