Abstract

The Republic of Congo faces challenges in knowledge production and dissemination within its universities, particularly in African Studies. This study employed qualitative methods including semi-structured interviews with faculty members from three selected universities, document review, and thematic analysis to explore the scope and impact of African university contributions to Congo’s knowledge ecosystem. Interviews revealed that a significant proportion (60%) of academic publications originated from Congolese universities, indicating a growing body of research output. Themes emerged around the need for collaborative networks and institutional support to enhance knowledge sharing among Congolese scholars. African universities in Congo play an essential role in producing and disseminating knowledge within African Studies, albeit with notable challenges related to resource limitations and collaboration gaps. Promoting interdisciplinary research programmes, strengthening collaborative networks between Congolese and international institutions, and enhancing institutional support for academic publications are recommended strategies.
