Historical Foundations of Contemporary Governance Challenges in Uganda
Abstract
This study explores the historical roots of contemporary governance challenges in Uganda, situating itself within the broader context of African Studies. This study employs a qualitative historiographical approach, utilising archival research and secondary data analysis to trace the evolution of governance structures and policies from colonial times to contemporary challenges. The findings indicate that the legacy of colonial administrative systems continues to influence current governance practices, particularly in areas such as bureaucratic inefficiency and corruption. Historical patterns of governance have significantly impacted present-day challenges, necessitating a reevaluation of existing policy frameworks to address ongoing issues effectively. Recommendations include the integration of historical context into contemporary policy development, fostering greater transparency in government operations, and promoting accountability mechanisms.
