Abstract

Rural communities in Benin often lack access to adequate oral healthcare services, leading to poor dental health outcomes. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including pre- and post-training assessments, observational visits, and structured interviews with patients and trainees. Post-training evaluations showed an improvement in dental hygiene practices among patients (90% reported better brushing habits), though variability existed across different regions. The training programme demonstrated promising results in enhancing oral health knowledge and practices among rural practitioners, warranting further expansion and refinement. Further research should focus on replication studies with diverse populations and implementation strategies to sustain improvements over time. oral healthcare, Benin, training programme, patient outcomes, effectiveness evaluation Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
