Methodological Evaluation of Community Health Centres Efficiency in Rwanda Using Difference-in-Differences Approach
Abstract
Community health centers in Rwanda have been established to improve access to healthcare services, particularly in rural areas where resource availability is limited. The analysis utilizes data from Rwanda's Ministry of Health to apply the DiD approach, which compares changes over time before and after implementation in selected centers versus control groups. A notable increase in patient visits was observed post-implementation, suggesting enhanced service accessibility. However, further work is needed to assess cost-effectiveness and quality metrics. While the DiD approach indicates potential efficiency gains, additional research is required to validate these findings across different health centers and regions. Investigation into patient satisfaction levels and operational costs should be prioritised alongside ongoing studies on service efficacy. Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
