Abstract

Preventive healthcare measures are crucial for public health in urban communities, especially among youth who may lack awareness or access to these services. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including surveys, focus group discussions, and health record analysis among youth aged 15-24 years in both Ghanaian and Ugandan urban areas. Among the surveyed participants, 67% reported awareness of preventive measures such as vaccinations and screenings. However, only 30% had received recommended services over the past year, highlighting gaps in service utilization. The findings underscore the need for targeted interventions to improve youth engagement with preventive healthcare practices. Public health initiatives should prioritise education campaigns and community-based health programmes to enhance access and awareness of preventive measures among young urban populations. Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
