Methodological Evaluation of Emergency Care Units in Nigeria: A Panel Data Analysis of Clinical Outcomes

Abstract

Emergency care units (ECUs) in Nigeria are critical for managing acute medical conditions. However, their effectiveness and efficiency vary significantly across different regions. Panel data regression models were employed to analyse data from 10 ECU sites over a three-year period. Robust standard errors were used for inference. The preliminary results suggest that patient survival rates improved by 15% in ECUs with better infrastructure and trained staff compared to those without such resources. This study highlights the importance of resource allocation and personnel training in enhancing emergency care delivery in Nigeria. Further research should focus on policy recommendations for improving ECU systems across Nigeria, particularly in underserved regions. Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p<em>i)=\beta</em>0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
