Social Support Outcomes Among Newly Diagnosed Breast Cancer Patients in Nairobi, Kenya: A Five-Year Programme Review
Abstract
Breast cancer is a significant health concern in Nairobi, Kenya, affecting many women who require comprehensive support. A retrospective analysis of patient records from a community-based intervention programme targeting 150 participants. The proportion of patients receiving recommended levels of social support was found to be 78% with no significant improvement in the final year, indicating stable but unsatisfactory outcomes. While some aspects of social support were effective, sustained improvements are needed to enhance patient well-being and treatment adherence. Further interventions should focus on increasing support frequency and addressing barriers to participation.
