Impact Assessment of Drought-Resistant Crop Varieties on Smallholders' Income Stability in Northern Ghana,

Abstract
Drought is a significant challenge for agriculture in northern Ghana, affecting smallholder farmers' income stability and food security. A qualitative study employing semi-structured interviews with 50 randomly selected smallholder farmers, supplemented by focus group discussions. Farmers reported a 20% increase in crop yield and an average of 15% reduction in post-harvest losses due to the adoption of drought-resistant varieties. Drought-resistant crop varieties have significantly improved smallholders' income stability, highlighting their potential as a climate-smart agricultural intervention. Promote farmer field schools for training on best practices and provide subsidies for seeds and inputs to support the adoption of these crops.
