Methodological Evaluation of District Hospitals Systems in Nigeria: Quasi-Experimental Design for Measuring Adoption Rates
Abstract
District hospitals in Nigeria play a crucial role in healthcare delivery but face challenges in adopting modern health information systems (HIS). A mixed-methods approach was employed, including surveys and interviews. A logistic regression model was used to analyse HIS adoption rates. The survey results indicated a moderate adoption rate of HIS (35% of hospitals). The quasi-experimental design showed significant heterogeneity in HIS adoption across different districts, necessitating tailored intervention strategies. Future studies should incorporate more detailed qualitative assessments to understand the specific barriers and facilitators for HIS adoption. District Hospitals, Health Information Systems, Quasi-Experimental Design, Adoption Rates Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
