Abstract

Afrofuturism is a contemporary cultural movement that explores the future of black people through an imaginative lens rooted in African heritage and diasporic experiences. No empirical data is used; this article employs a conceptual analysis approach to map out the potential applications of Afrofuturism in African studies. This theoretical framework provides a novel lens through which the future of Nigerian society can be examined, offering insights that could inform policy and planning efforts in Africa and beyond. Future research should explore empirical applications of Afrofuturism to validate its predictive power and potential impact on social change in Nigeria and other African contexts.
