Abstract

Afrofuturism is a cultural movement that explores African heritage through futuristic perspectives, often blending traditional and contemporary elements to envision alternative futures for Africa. A structured survey was conducted with a diverse sample of 300 participants, including academics and community leaders, using open-ended questions designed to explore their visions for Africa’s future. Participants predominantly expressed optimism about technological advancements, environmental sustainability, and cultural preservation as key themes in envisioning African futures. There was a notable emphasis on the importance of unity and shared identity across different regions of Ghana. The survey results suggest that Afrofuturism offers valuable insights into how diverse stakeholders perceive potential future trajectories for Africa, highlighting areas where concerted efforts are needed to ensure equitable development. Further research should explore the practical implications of these visions and identify ways to engage broader segments of society in shaping African futures through inclusive dialogue and policy-making.
